There are 4 or 5 thousand scarabs in this scene… You can not hand-animate 5 thousand objects so you will never get your result done. We are able to use Maya particles and animate the method more realistic (mater/render). One of the challenges was making the particles interact with the rest of the environment. We have built a model of the gyratory where the scarabs (were) every one around and by selling (a top)… collision object the particles were naturally flown around them.
This is another scene where a land of roaches is collapsing. And we wanted something very very dramatic. We think the middle models (wins was) we need hundred or thousand of rocks to fall down here and nobody want to hand model all of there. So we rendered to the API and (roll) teams, they would allow to build this rocks to fall down theme and collapse up something that‘s look natural than animated. That took three or four days to generated instead of three or four weeks .. that is a lot of time and money. That is simply…. done it time …
